Paul C. Huck, Jr. is a founding shareholder of Lawson Huck Gonzalez, PLLC, where his practice focuses on business litigation, regulatory advice, and government investigations. For thirty years he has represented businesses and individuals in complex commercial litigation (breach of contract, business torts, unfair competition and antitrust claims, professional liability, and challenges to agency action) with significant experience in consumer class actions and shareholder derivative litigation. He also represents clients in government investigations and in matters challenging government enforcement under Florida constitutional and statutory law.

Trial and appellate advocacy

Paul tries cases and argues appeals. He has tried numerous jury and nonjury cases in federal and state courts throughout Florida and has argued appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the Florida Supreme Court, and Florida’s intermediate appellate courts.

Public service

Paul has held senior positions in the executive branch of the State of Florida. As Florida’s Deputy Attorney General, he was involved in the prosecution of a wide range of civil enforcement and criminal matters in the health care, telecommunications, and pharmaceutical industries. Later, as General Counsel to the Governor, he represented the Governor in statutory and constitutional matters, advised on judicial appointments, and supervised litigation brought by and against Florida’s executive agencies.

Counselor and mediator

Although he approaches every case with a view toward winning at trial, Paul is also a seasoned counselor who understands that business disputes often call for creative solutions in which courtroom advocacy is only one piece of the puzzle. For that reason, peers and courts frequently ask him to serve as a mediator in particularly complex cases, including class actions and multidistrict litigation.
