David Chappell is a Shareholder at Lawson Huck Gonzalez, PLLC, in the Tallahassee Office. As the General Counsel for the Florida Department of Education from September 2024 through July 2026, he has experience in representing Florida in high profile complex civil and appellate litigation in state and federal court. He has also represented the Department in various administrative proceedings, arbitrations, and mediations.

In addition to his prior experience in education law, David previously litigated election law cases with the Florida Department of State and death penalty appeals on behalf of Florida’s Office of the Attorney General, including oral arguments before the Florida Supreme Court and the United States Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
