Biography
Ray Treadwell is a top-educated litigator with experience at premiere law firms and Florida’s highest level of government. Most recently, Ray served as the Chief Deputy General Counsel for Governor Ron DeSantis, helping to manage the State’s most high-profile litigation for several years. He successfully defended against challenges to laws and regulations dealing with liquor sales, school reopening plans, emergency powers, school curricula, gambling compacts, prison conditions, ballot initiatives, and more. Ray also served as General Counsel to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
Outside of government, Ray has a wide range of experience in commercial litigation matters dealing with contract and insurance disputes, business tort claims, and employment disputes. His cases have spanned the hospitality, healthcare, construction, transportation, banking, and entertainment industries, regularly assisting high-profile clients. Ray’s education and career have also focused on First Amendment rights and election law.
Prior to beginning his practice, Ray served two years as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Marcia Morales Howard in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. He also worked on the legislative staff of a U.S. Congressman in Washington, D.C.
In recent years, Ray has taught courses on judicial power and emergency litigation at the University of Florida and Florida State University law schools.
