Jessica Slatten is a founding shareholder and managing member at Lawson Huck Gonzalez, PLLC. As the co-chair of Lawson’s Appellate Practice Section, Jessica practices primarily in the areas of civil and administrative appeals, select criminal appeals, original appellate proceedings, discretionary review proceedings, providing appellate support during trial and pretrial proceedings, and select trial-court and issue-based advocacy. With more than twenty years of legal experience, including over a decade as a Florida Supreme Court career staff attorney, Jessica is well-versed in all aspects of appellate procedure and advocacy.

Immediately prior to joining the Lawson firm, Jessica clerked for former Florida Supreme Court Justices Ricky Polston and Alan Lawson. In this role, Jessica reviewed voluminous records and researched and analyzed complex legal issues. In over a decade at the Florida Supreme Court, Jessica made hundreds of jurisdictional and merits recommendations—often in high-stakes, time-sensitive cases. Jessica also routinely drafted proposed opinions and orders, and both justices entrusted her with supervising their less experienced staff attorneys and law student interns.

Before her clerkships, Jessica had several years of private practice experience, including representing clients in a variety of complex litigation and appellate matters, including in cases involving real property, title insurance, construction, and contract disputes. Florida Super Lawyers recognized Jessica in 2009 as a Rising Star in Construction/Surety Law.

Since joining the Lawson firm in 2023, Jessica has represented clients in the Florida Supreme Court, all six Florida District Courts of Appeal, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Her practice focuses on appeals and litigation support in complex cases involving government, business, construction, real property, estates & trusts, insurance, and contract disputes.
