Jessica Slatten is a partner at Lawson, Huck, Gonzalez, where she focuses her practice on civil and administrative appeals and providing appellate support during trial and pretrial activities.  With more than sixteen years of legal experience, including over a decade as a Florida Supreme Court career staff attorney, Jessica is well-versed in all aspects of appellate procedure and advocacy.

Immediately prior to joining the Lawson firm, Jessica clerked for former Florida Supreme Court Justices Ricky Polston and Alan Lawson.  In this role, Jessica daily reviewed voluminous records and researched and analyzed complex legal issues.  In over a decade, she made hundreds of jurisdictional and merits recommendations—often in high-stakes, time-sensitive cases.  Jessica also routinely drafted proposed opinions and orders, and both justices entrusted her with supervising their less experienced staff attorneys.

In addition to her work at the Florida Supreme Court, Jessica has several years of prior private practice experience.  She has represented businesses and individuals in a variety of complex commercial litigation and appellate matters, including construction, real property, title insurance, and contract disputes.  Florida Super Lawyers recognized Jessica in 2009 as a Rising Star in Construction/Surety Law.
